It's like a feast for the senses and a rage of enthusiasm. The colors, the light and the air. You feel like over the sea and at the same time secure on the slope of the hill. You are looking over the sea und you search
with your eyes for the coast of Africa, though you know, that it is too far away.

Your eyes follow the ascending line of the Etna to its bright white peak and you hope that the mountain "breathes" and let you feel a bit from its fiery force and strenght.
And when you are in the garden and you look up, you see the white peaks of the hotel, which are competing with the eternal snow of the Etna.
Of course there are many nice hotels in Taormina. But here, 10 minutes away from the center of the city you find such a very nice historic ambience with the retro charme of the twentys of the last century, that I renounce volontarily perfection and high quality accomodation of a four or five star hotel.
For generations people came here for vacation, in former times they stayed longer, for weks or months, but to whom is this still possible nowadays?
I come to Taormina, when I am enrolling at the language school BABILONIA and I prefer one of those rooms, which are opening to the large terrace; (my personal tip: try to book room number 24.)
In the afternoon I enjoy especially the vast garden, which is cared for which much affection and love or I appreciate the large glassed-in hall in which they served dinner till 20 years ago.

By the change of time most of the tourists prefer to eat in the various "ristoranti" or "osterie" of the city. But in spite of this special evenings are reserved for "la cena" in this hall and the usually more or less calm-introverted hotel-owner turns up to be an expressiv and passionate pianist (the piano in the saloon is tempered indeed and many a guest like to give a piano-performance at the time of the happy hour enjoying the acustic of the high ceiling.)
And you can consider Sebastiano to be "cult", when he serves you breakfast. He is very popular and I woundn't be astonished if he would even seduce some guests to come back; very subtly of corse, like the style of the hotel.
